View of
grazing horses from our porch |
Dog Branch Farm was a
35-acre pasture fenced with barbed-wire and grazed
by cattle when we purchased the land in October of
2000. It was bordered by old fieldstone walls on
three sides and had a small creek, called Dog Branch
Creek, running through a bottom corner.

Stalls in
the Dog Branch Farm barn |
By February of 2002, the house, 10-stall horse
barn with tractor shed, and 9,000 ft of board
fencing were completed, and we moved in.

Backyard gardens |
Over the next few years, we added a run-in shed,
deck, gardens, and koi ponds.

Koi pond |
As everyone who owns
a home and land knows, the improvements will
never cease. A garden shed
is next on the long
list of "to do's".

View of the Blue Ridge
Mountains |
We will never tire
of the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the
deer that graze the big field, or the foxes that
hunt field mice in our paddocks in the early
mornings.
