Personality:
Our “Pistol” seems to be the
darling of all women who
visit the farm. They want to
cuddle him and
he plays it up! He knows how
to get the most pathetic
“poor little me” expression
on his face when he wants
attention. He is a little
lover-boy—all charm. He
likes to be held like a
human baby—lying on his
back, cradled in my arms.
Even though he is the male
canine in our family, he is
at the bottom of the pecking
order. There is no alpha dog
in his personality! He makes
the funniest little “oinky”
sounds when he is being
cuddled, and he knows how to
smile.
Conformation:
Pistol gives the impression
of being the smallest
Russell we have and yet he
is the tallest. The
relationship of his
length-of-back to his
leg-length closely fits the
“standard” for Russell
Terriers, ie, slightly
longer than tall. He has
great tail set and carriage
(he almost always carries
his tail straight up or even
slightly tilted over top of
his back. He has
wonderful charismatic ears
with good shape and set. He
can get more expressions on
his face than you would ever
think was possible for a
dog.
His legs are very straight
and he has the perfect,
purposeful Jack Russell
stride when he trots.
Coat:
Pistol’s coat is very, very
short, fine, and shiny. He
is a tricolored smooth coat,
with colored eyebrows that
give him that ability to
make so many humorous facial
expressions. |
